The Food Basket Drive of 2022 was a Great Success!

With the help of generous donations including non-perishable food and toys, the Darien Lions Club distributed holiday food baskets to about 300 families in need last December. 
 

This included presents for the children which were coordinated and wrapped by the Darien Park District.  Families of Darien, Downers Grove, Westmont, and Willowbrook were included in the distributions. 
 

Distribution is done by Club members, their families, and other volunteers from our distribution headquarters located at the Darien Park District facility on Fairview in Darien.  The Darien Park District has been an integral partner in this program for many years.
 

The Darien Lions have sponsored this program since 1976 and has seen the number of area families being served grow from 14 to over 300 in recent years. 

 

The cost to sponsor a family is $85.00 and checks can be made payable to the Darien Lions Club Foundation at any time of the year.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. 
 

These large-scale humanitarian efforts are not possible without the time, effort, and funding of many, many, caring people.  Some gave donations of food, toys, or money while others collected, packaged, or performed deliveries throughout the community. Each family received a ham, a turkey, dairy products, produce, and canned food including toys for the children of these families which were personally presented.
 

The Darien Lions Club wishes to thank all those who participated in person or through a donation helping these families achieve a brighter holiday season.
