Congratulations to Deneen Ruffolo

Last evening as part of a city council meeting, Deneen Ruffolo was presented the Darien Lions Humanitarian of the Year award, an award bestowed by the Darien Lions to honor the efforts of community members in delivering charitable services. The award is presented in collaboration with the city of Darien.

The Mayor of Darien, Joe Marchese, read a proclamation and designated Friday July 24th as Deneen Ruffolo Day in the city of Darien.

Lion President John Pearson presented Deneen with a replica of the brick paver that will be placed in the Lions Patio located at the main pavilion in Darien Community Park.

Deneen's selfless efforts in assisting the Darien Lions in their goals and programs earned her this prestigious award. Her invaluable assistance with the Lions Food Baskets program, procuring and wrapping thousands of gifts so as to insure a Merry Christmas to over 250 families and their over 600 children, is priceless.

To quote her daughter Cassi…

"She spearheads the wrapping of over 4,000 gifts every single year, to families who might not otherwise receive gifts at that time of year. She’s raised her kids (and grand-kids) to give back and help others whenever you can. Her heart is full of love and there is no greater example of love and generosity than her. Congrats Deneen Ruffolo, such a well deserved award tonight!

We’re just lucky we get to call you ours. Love you Momma!"

The Darien Lions want to thank Deneen Ruffolo for her invaluable assistance and are proud to have chosen her as the "Darien Lions Humanitarian of the year 2020".

About Us

Our Background

We meet twice each month from September through June. One meeting is a business meeting, and the other is a dinner meeting that features a guest speaker. Four of our dinner meetings are semi-formals which wives/significant-others attend. Although we are serious in our work, we always manage to have a little fun as well.
