Every year, the Darien Lions Club awards several scholarships.  We are proud to present the following awardees.

The Lou McGinley Scholarship is given to a hearing-impaired senior in Hindsdale South High School's Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Department who has succeeded in school.  It is given in memory of former Darien Lion  Lou.  This year's awardee is Kathleen McGann.

The Sean Dunn Scholarship is awarded to a Hinsdale South High School senior in the Educational Services department who has overcome some sort of learning impairment and has succeeded in school.   The scholarship is given in memory of former student Sean Dunn.  This year's winner is Robert (Joel) Mengarelli.

The Robert Counsel Scholarship is named in honor of former Club member Bob Counsel and is given to a Downers Grove High School senior.  This year's scholarship goes to Kaitlin Montes.

All these scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 and can be renewable for an additional $1,000 for the student's sophomore year upon satisfactory achievement in their freshman year.

The Kris Sant Scholarship is given by active Club member Lion Kris Sant through the Darien Lions Club Foundation.*   It is awarded to a foreign-born student who has been in the U.S. only during his/her high school years and has shown great promise as an American student.  This year's $1,000 scholarship goes to Salomeja Ivinskyte.

All these award winners are chosen by the educators in the respective departmental areas.
