The
Darien Lions Club sponsors the 4th of July Parade for the enjoyment of all Darien
residents and visitors. This year's event was held on Monday, July 4th,
2007, stepping
off from Hinsdale South High School at 75th Street and Clarendon Hills Road. The parade route
headed North on Clarendon Hills
Road to Plainfield
Road, then Southwest to 75th Street, then West past Cass Avenue and ended at Eisenhower Jr.
High School.
Shown
at the top left are this year's announcers Greg Ruffolo and Jim Sims who described all of the
Parade's
entries at the main reviewing stand. At the right is Kurt Scholle who
manned the second reviewing stand at
75th and Cass so that even more people would get to hear about each of the parade
participants.
At the end of the parade, ice cream cones
were available to all,
compliments of the Darien Lions Club. Many of our costs are underwritten
through donations from local organizations,
businesses, and individuals. And we certainly appreciate the involvement of the
Darien Police who provide traffic control.
