The Darien Lions Club stage several events every year as a means of raising funds.  Last year the Club raised $25,000 on Candy Day, $18,000 from the Special Raffle, and $8,900 at the Pancake Breakfast.  Most of these monies are returned to the community in the form of donations and services.  Click here for a more extensive list of donations the Darien Lions gave in past years.

                                                              Explanation
Board Meetings:
Held monthly (August-June) at individual Board members' homes.  The agenda includes recommendations on Club affairs which will be presented to the membership at the general meetings.
Steak Fry:
This traditional meeting at Meyer Woods in Darien kicks off our general business meetings for the year.  Club business is usually kept to a minimum as the main point of interest for the night is catching up with others, meeting new member prospects and enjoying a terrific steak dinner.  
Induction Dinner: 
Held twice each program year in October and February, new Club members are sworn in and introduced to the membership. 
Non-Smoker:
Social Event/Dinner/Business Meeting held at the Darien Swim & Racquet Club. An evening of socializing for members and guests.  Event was previously referred to as 'Smoker'.
District 1-J Convention:
Annual meeting for all Lions Clubs in District 1-J in Illinois.  The agenda includes forums, workshops, educational sessions, guest speakers, and socializing continuing thru Sunday. 
Golf Outing:
Usually held on the first Thursday in June.  This event has been attended by as many as 140 golfers in past years.   A family style dinner is provided and the evening is topped off with the drawing for the Club's annual "Big  Raffle" for which first prize is $10,000.
State Convention:
Annual convention for all Illinois Lions Clubs and a tune-up for the International Convention.  The Darien Lions typically send representatives to this event, and individual members also may attend.
International Convention:
Every year Lions Clubs from around the world convene for meetings, workshops, and a seemingly endless parade with nations from around the globe participating in their native attire.  The Darien Lions typically send representatives to this event.
