DarienFest
is usually held on Friday-Sunday following Labor Day weekend at the Darien Community Park on the
corner of Plainfield and Clarendon Hills Roads in Darien.
The Darien
Chamber of Commerce runs the Fest with volunteer help from several volunteer
groups like the Darien Lions. If you'd like more info about DarienFest please visit the Darien Chamber of Commerce website at
www.darienchamber.com or their
info website at www.darienchamber.com/homeframe.html.
The Darien Lions are prominent at
DarienFest, sporting our uniform shirts and/or gold vests, and our Corn
Tent is an annual favorite among Fest patrons. All the proceeds from
our sweet corn sales are used to fund several community activities
including our 4th of July Parade, our Halloween Party, Food Baskets, and
Easter Egg hunt, to name a few. Other monies are donated to needy
local residents, particularly those with hearing or vision handicaps.
Our Club also supports the Chamber by
staffing their beer and pop/water tents. Remember, cash is not
accepted for beverages. Patrons must have their ID checked and then
purchase tickets.
At DarienFest, our members take the
opportunity to mix with the community, enjoy some good music, food, and
drink, and to recruit new members for our Club. We hope you enjoyed
this years festivities, and hope to see to next year.
We extend our thanks to Jewel Foods for
supporting our Corn Tent, and congratulate the Darien Chamber of Commerce
on another successful DarienFest.
