The prestigious George Lazansky Award is presented to highly qualified Lions by District 1-J.  A maximum of  ten can be awarded each year.  This award is named to remember Lion George Lazansky, who served as District 1-J's first Governor in 1951-52.

Nominees must be Lions in good standing within District 1-J and Lions International.  They must have made an outstanding contribution to Lionism at the Club level, or have performed some outstanding humanitarian achievement, not necessarily related to Lionism.

The Darien Lions Club is proud to honor Lion Kris Sant for achieving the George Lazansky Award this year.  Lion Kris, shown with his lovely wife Krishna, was presented with his award at the District 1-J Convention on April 18th, 2004.  He is surrounded by (left to right) Lions Ira Bresof (2003 George Lazansky Award recipient), Joe Marchese, Ray Krusinski, and Gerry Kucera.
